Key Features
The Intimidator™ 18XP is a highly productive 18″ capacity drum-style chipper. Its powerful dual feed wheel system driven via (2) 32.3 CID hydraulic motors provides around 4,480 pounds of pulling power and the standard hydraulic lift cylinder enhances performance by providing additional down pressure reducing chainsaw work.
User friendly options like the solid infeed tray with HD rim enhances the infeeds durabilty. 25 inch wide feed wheels in lieu of the standard 20″ make it easier for the feed system to collapse limbs into the the chippers throat.
Gas and diesel engine options are available ranging from 120 to 174 horsepower. Most configurations can keep the machine under 10,000 pounds.
Powerful Feed System and Oversized Drum The large 20-½” x 20-7/8″ chipper opening and powerful feed system collapses limbs and branches and limits the need to trim. With the large 37” diameter drum, most of the material is chipped on the bottom half of the drum on the grain, like a disc. The 18XP chips with limited vibration, consumes less fuel, and requires less horsepower than rival 18” capacity drum chippers. Fuel Efficient The 18XP will chip 18″ material with limited horsepower and will consume about 30% less fuel than competitive 18″ chippers. Extremely Easy to Service and Maintain The chipper hood opens, making it easy to access the knives. Bolt-in knives are easy to change and reversible, with two usable edges before the knives need to be sharpened. Knives can be sharpened five or six times before disposal. All grease points are easy to reach, and service areas are easy to access. Durable Construction The 18XP is built with welded construction, a stronger chipping drum, and heavy duty components that make it the most dependable 18″ chipper on the market. Heavy-Duty Chipper The heart of a hand-fed chipper is the chipper drum and housing. The Bandit Intimidator™ 18XP’s are equipped with:• 37” diameter x 22” long drum with internal baffling
• 4 staggered knife pockets (two cuts per revolution)
• 3-½” diameter chipper shaft at hub
• 2-5/16” pillow block chipper roller bearings 30 Gallon Steel Fuel Tank The primary fuel source for the power unit is the 30 gallon steel fuel tank. This high capacity fuel tank should provide more than a day’s fuel supply for most applications. The tank is easy to drain should contaminants enter. Powerful Chip Discharge System The unique chip pockets, angle of the knife, smooth unrestrictive transition and discharge and the power slot provide chipper that will throw chips farther using less energy. The power slot eliminates the vacuum and turbulence that incurs inside the chipper housing and also provides a place for fine material and water to escape that might tend to collect in the belly of the drum. Swivel and height adjustable discharges along with a chip deflector ensure that chip trucks are fully loaded. Infeed Lift Assist For the heavy-duty 64” wide x 33-¾” deep infeed pan that is standard on the Intimidator 18XP, a spring loaded lift assist is standard making it easy to raise and lower the infeed pan of the chipper. Power Options The engine or power unit provides all of the power needed to run the chipper and the hydraulic functions of the chipper. Because Bandit offers such a wide variety of engine options from most of the major engine manufacturers, the customer can select the power unit that best suits his specific needs from a performance and service standpoint. Powerful Dual Feed Wheels and Wide Infeed Openings Bandit’s Intimidator 18XP is equipped with a slide box feed system with top and bottom feed wheels that are 20” wide by 10-5/8” in diameter, and is powered by 32.3 CID feed wheel motors. The feed wheel motors generate 12,858 in/lbs. of torque and 2,420 lbs. of pulling power for each feed wheel. The standard hydraulic lift cylinder adds an additional 3,780 pounds of down pressure. All of these features combined make the 18XP a great choice for chipping larger diameter material reducing the effort to feed the chipper. Self-Propelled Options The 18XP is also a popular self-propelled unit. This unit is used in a wide variety of chipping applications, including fire prevention, right-of-way and ditch maintenance, and lot clearing. All chipper and track functions are controlled via a wireless radio remote with tether backup.
